Summary Review of Court Systems

In 2020, ALFA International’s Business Litigation Practice Group prepared a 50-state compendium to address the structure of local courts in each state.

With an eye toward business disputes, attorneys from across the country authored summary reviews of the court systems within their jurisdictions. The summaries identify the trial and appellate courts in each state, explain the jurisdictional requirements for each court, clarify the presence or absence of specialized commercial courts and describe a litigant’s options for mediation. The articles provide helpful information for any client who finds itself involved in commercial litigation in an unfamiliar area.

The information provided is intended only as a general overview and not as a comprehensive analysis of local courts or rules of procedure. Please contact a member of the ALFA International Business Litigation Practice Group with any further questions.
