About the Webinar:

Although it’s not how anyone hopes a project will go, defaults are a reality. Whether by the owner due to funding issues, a general contractor, or one (or more) subcontractors, defaults happen and all parties must be prepared. This webinar will take you through the different perspectives of each of these three parties and provide best practices on how to protect yourself and mitigate damages arising from project defaults, both upfront during the contract negotiation phase and in real-time as the project is in progress.

Panelists:

NORA E. LOFTUS is a partner with ALFA International member firm, Frantz Ward LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio, where she devotes her practice to the construction industry. From front-end contract review and assisting clients with project documentation in real-time to ensure they are in the best position to defend or prosecute claims, Nora helps clients identify, avoid, and resolve project disputes. Nora has represented owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and sureties, which enables her to spot issues and risks from all sides. Nora has served as both first- and second-chair for numerous trials and arbitrations throughout the country. Nora received her B.A. from Miami University and her J.D. from Cleveland State University.

ADAM J. RUSS of ALFA International member firm Lorance Thompson, P.C. in Houston, Texas, helps individuals and businesses work through their most challenging risk management and legal problems. As a trial attorney licensed in Ohio and Texas, Adam offers valuable first-chair experience defending matters across a variety of courts and ADR forums. From day-to-day business counseling through to the rigors of litigation, Adam’s skills and practical approach has helped clients in the hospitality, retail, manufacturing, construction, financial services, and insurance industries achieve results, whether inside the courtroom or working to avoid it. Before relocating to Texas, Adam was a partner at ALFA International member firm, Frantz Ward LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio. Adam received his B.B.A. in finance, magna cum laude, and his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, where he remains active as a guest instructor in its Intensive Trial Advocacy program. Adam is a member of the ALFA International Steering Committee for the Hospitality & Retail Law Practice Group and will be its incoming program chair.
