About the Webinar:
This dynamic webinar, led by Dr. Gibson, will discuss new issues that are developing in the field of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) including interpretation of neuropsychological testing and identification of peer reviewed neuropsychological studies that can aid in defeating or minimizing these cases. Dr. Gibson will identify many symptoms complained of by mTBI plaintiffs are the same as seen in the general population who never suffered a mTBI. The webinar will discuss best practices in defending these cases and the current tactics plaintiff’s lawyers are using in bringing these cases.
Panelists:
LANCE G. EBERHART is the CEO of ALFA International member firm, Hall & Evans, LLC, in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Eberhart practices in the area of complex civil litigation handling the defense of a full range of property and casualty matters including matters directly affecting the Transportation Industry. Prior to joining Hall & Evans, Mr. Eberhart had significant trial and appellate experience in the field of criminal defense. He is in numerous professional organizations and is a member of both the ALFA International Hospitality & Retail and Transportation Steering Committees. He was the 2016 ALFA International Hospitality & Retail Law Practice Group chair. Mr. Eberhart is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law.
WARNER S. FOX is a senior partner with ALFA International member firm, Hawkins Parnell & Young, LLP, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Fox has practiced with the Firm for more than 30 years. His practice focuses on catastrophic accident litigation primarily arising from matters involving transportation accidents, premises and products liability. Through the years, Mr. Fox has tried numerous cases involving many types of tort matters. He is often called upon by his clients to handle catastrophic matters in other jurisdictions. Many of those catastrophic matters have been cases involving traumatic brain injury, a topic on which he lectures frequently. Mr. Fox developed a subspecialty in defending these types of cases based upon his many years of experience in defending them.
DOUGLAS GIBSON, Psy.D., MPH, ABPP is the owner and president of MedPsych Consulting LLC, a private practice specializing in behavioral medicine and neuropsychological consultation in Plantation, Florida. Dr. Gibson has provided expert consultation on thousands of medically complicated cases, including mTBI, TBI, PTSD and poly-trauma. He has given expert testimony in cases throughout the country and is often asked to lecture on topics related to traumatic brain injury as well as symptom validity. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-Health), and also holds a Master of Public Health degree with specialization in Epidemiology. Dr. Gibson is an Associate Professor of Clinical and Neuropsychology at Nova Southeastern University, where he instructs, supervises and is actively engaged in research on traumatic brain injury. He is the faculty appointed to the University’s new Veteran’s Access Center, where he provides instruction, supervision and consultation to Veteran’s with mTBI and PTSD. Dr. Gibson has been a CIA forensic and neuropsychologist since 2012 and is a scientific advisor to the Society for NeuroSports.
