About the Webinar:

The program is designed to give non-bankruptcy attorneys and clients an overview of certain bankruptcy issues, specifically a discussion of the Small Business Reorganization Act (SBRA), the expansion of SBRA under the CARES Act and the economic impact of payments made under federal law and moratoriums on debt collection or lack thereof.

Panelists:

DAVID A. LERNER is a shareholder with ALFA International member firm, Plunkett Cooney, in Bloomfield Hills, MI. David concentrates his practice in the area of bankruptcy, representing secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, purchasers of assets in bankruptcy sales in Chapter 7, 11 and 13. He received his B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Cincinnati and obtained his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. David is a member of the Michigan State Bar, American Bankruptcy Institute, Debtor Creditor Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, Detroit Consumer Bankruptcy Association, Federal Bar Association (co-chair of the Bankruptcy section), and New York Bar Association. David is admitted to practice law in all courts in the state of Michigan, the 6th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals, courts in New York, Texas and the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

DENISE DELL-POWELL is chair of ALFA International member firm Dean Mead’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group throughout Florida. Denise has more than 25 years of experience in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, and distressed property including CMBS foreclosures, workouts and bankruptcy matters. She has represented secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, Chapter 11 Trustees, Chapter 7 Trustees and unsecured creditors’ committees. In addition to a focus on banking and financial institutions, she also represents clients in the hospitality, restaurant, healthcare and agricultural industries. In 2017, Denise was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy.

FRANCESCA MACCHIAVERNA is a partner with ALFA International member firm, HunterMaclean, in Savannah, GA. Francesca has more than 20 years of experience in business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts of Georgia and South Carolina. She represents clients in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, real estate foreclosure and workouts, landlord-tenant matters, mechanic’s liens and bonds, healthcare, and post-judgment and foreign judgment collections. She has received the highest possible rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell in the areas of commercial law, bankruptcy, and litigation. She is a member of the Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights Sections of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah Bar Association, and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She is also a member of the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association. Over the years she has frequently presented bankruptcy programs to the Coastal Bankruptcy Law Institute, and presented at the 2019 ALFA International Client Seminar.
