Murphy & Grantland, P.A. (Columbia, SC) Raymond Moore III and Cordes Kennedy Team Up in Two Client Victories

Ray Moore and Cordes Kennedy have recently teamed up to secure two client victories. In the first case, Moore and Kennedy obtained a dismissal of a professional association who had been accused of lobbying activities to promote the business of its member professionals for an anti-competitive outcome.  Relying on both state court precedent and First Amendment protections, they obtained the dismissal of the professional association before expensive discovery took place.

In the second case, Moore and Kennedy obtained a summary judgment in Berkley County on behalf of a commercial mailbox manufacturer who had been sued after an employee was struck by a vehicle while checking the mailbox for her employer.  They successfully argued that USPS Regulations regarding the design of mailboxes and the plaintiff’s failure to establish a reasonable alternative design, along with the plaintiff’s recognition of the hazard of checking the mailbox while standing in a roadway, all warranted summary judgment.
