The practice group brings together McNees attorneys with deep experience in professional licensure matters and navigating the complex state regulations governing licensed professionals, such as accountants, architects, engineers, commercial drivers, funeral directors, healthcare professionals, lawyers, realtors and vehicle dealers.

The Professional Licensing and Ethics Defense practice is led by attorney Edwin A.D. Schwartz, a seasoned trial attorney with deep experience in professional licensing issues.

Schwartz joined McNees’ Litigation Group last year. Based in the Harrisburg area, he routinely handles complex licensure and professional liability matters in a variety of industries including healthcare, finance and legal services. He also has years of experience in litigating matters before various licensure boards in Pennsylvania, including the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board, among others.

The following McNees attorneys join Schwartz on the firm’s Professional Licensing and Ethics Defense team:

Erik R. Anderson – Anderson joined the firm in September and is experienced with providing counsel to attorneys and law firms responding to ethics inquiries and defending against prosecutions brought by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. In addition, Anderson defends judges before the Judicial Conduct Board. He advises on various ethics issues, including conflicts of interest, attorney misconduct, fees, firm organization, unauthorized practice of law and defending and prosecuting disqualification actions.

Mark R. Calore – Calore is a former assistant counsel in the Pennsylvania Office of General Counsel and former deputy prosecutor at the York County District Attorney’s office. Before joining McNees, Calore advised the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s State Workers’ Insurance Fund (SWIF) and assisted in litigation at the trial and appellate court levels. He also advised the commonwealth’s Department of Transportation on a range of licensure and state Vehicle Code issues.
