Lewis Thomason (Knoxville & Nashville, TN) Celebrates John Tarpley’s Appointment to Chair of Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission

John R. Tarpley, shareholder in Lewis Thomason’s Nashville office, has been appointed Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission by the Supreme Court of Tennessee at Nashville.

Tarpley has been involved in complex litigation in the areas of transportation, tort, product liability, and a wide range of insurance-related matters in both state and federal courts. He has devoted a significant portion of his practice to the mediation and arbitration of civil matters.  He is certified by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Rule 31 mediator and has mediated over 1,000 civil cases throughout the state by both in-person and electronic means. He has been selected by his peers as a member of the distinguished Tennessee Academy of Mediators. In addition, he is a frequent speaker on mediation topics.

Among his numerous professional honors, Tarpley is a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates representing the Tennessee Bar Association and also serves as the Tennessee State Delegate. Tarpley is a former member of ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, a former member of the Tennessee Judicial Selection Commission, and a past president of the Tennessee Bar Association.
