D. Jay Davis, Jr. and Kara S. Grevey recently obtained a defense verdict on behalf of their client, a large real estate brokerage firm, in a multimillion dollar civil jury trial. The Plaintiff brought claims of defamation and tortious interference with a contract against the real estate firm. Plaintiff alleged that the client had tortiously interfered with his contract as well as defamed him during the process of building and selling a spec home. The client vigorously defended the allegations at trial as their actions were professional and in compliance with the standard of care. Plaintiff asked the jury to award damages in excess of $7,700,000 and sought punitive damages. After a two-week trial, the jury found in favor of Clement Rivers’s client on all claims.
