Ramdas & Wong is a local law firm established in 1974 by founding partners Mr. David Wong Chin Huat and Mr. Shunmugam Ramdas. Ramdas & Wong has always been a leading practice in real estate, both individual and corporate transactions, acting for vendors, purchasers, property developers, real estate investment trusts and financial institutions in property transactions. The firm counts among its clients several of the largest listed property developers and owners in Singapore.

The firm is also a leader in landlord and tenant law, acting for many of the largest commercial and industrial landlords in Singapore. Its practice in this area includes documentation for leases, advising clients on lease and property management issues, and acting for clients in the recovery of rental arrears and landlord and tenant disputes.

The firm’s lawyers have extensive experience in general banking and finance work. They advise on the Banking Act, Bills of Exchange Act and on Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Notices and directives to banks. Their advice extends to new schemes of financing. Work in this area includes agreements and security documentation, such as mortgages and debentures, project financing, new schemes and documentation for financing or loan packages, investment, subscription and fiscal agency agreements relating to share options, bonds and floating-rate notes.

The firm has a strong commercial litigation practice. The litigation lawyers undertake a variety of commercial, corporate, IP and other disputes. In addition, they have experience in dealing with a wide range of court proceedings, including debt recovery, insolvencies, share capital reductions, property law, landlord and tenant law, company shareholders’ or partnership disputes, and road and industrial accidents.

Ramdas & Wong represents corporate clients across a wide spectrum of industries and services. It advises clients on all aspects of their corporate affairs, including compliance with the Companies Act and other relevant legislation and regulations. In addition, the lawyers prepare documentation for clients in relation to all types of business ventures. They also act for clients in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and reorganizations.

In employment and industrial relations, the firm’s lawyers have advised employers, employees and unions on a wide range of employment and industrial relations issues, including disputes on collective agreements, and have acted for both employers and employees in disputes before the Singapore courts. They have also advised clients on employee issues in restructuring, reorganizations and redundancy situations.

The firm’s lawyers have wide experience in insolvency law. They have represented insolvency practitioners, creditors, debtors and other parties. They act for liquidators, receivers and judicial managers, as well as creditors in the voluntary and court winding up of companies, solvent as well as insolvent.

The firm has an experienced team of lawyers who advise and act for corporations and individuals in insurance-related negotiations and litigation, including claims arising from motor vehicle collisions, industrial accidents and workers’ compensation.

Ramdas & Wong also has an established family and personal law practice. The lawyers act in family matters such as divorce, maintenance, custody of children and division of matrimonial property. They also act in adoptions and guardianship of children. One of the partners is appointed by the courts as counsel to assist the court in high-conflict custody issues. The firm also has wide experience in both contentious and non-contentious probate and estate matters, in addition to advising clients on succession law and wills.
