Stephen Ellenbecker

Stephen P. Ellenbecker concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability, construction, fire litigation, general civil litigation, and business disputes. He is co-chair of the firm's Product Liability group, co-chair of Johnson & Bell’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and a vice-chair of the ABA’s Torts and Insurance Practice Committee.

Mr. Ellenbecker also represents clients in the food & ingredient industry, the welding equipment industry, and manufacturers. He has utilized bacterial genomic sequencing to defend foodborne outbreak litigation and has successfully used human genome sequencing to establish alternative causation and dispel notions of genetic susceptibility in tort litigation. He works on litigation as local and national counsel and coordinates scheduling, discovery, and trial work with other firms throughout the US.

Mr. Ellenbecker also represents companies involved in the marine industry, defending their products and handling litigation involving mishaps at sea. He also represents a large food and food ingredient manufacturer in a range of issues encountered by the business. Mr. Ellenbecker maintains a national product liability practice and regularly litigates premises liability, fire defense litigation and commercial matters.
