At the ALFA International 2023 Insurance Roundtable\, we are looking forward to spending time with colleagues and insurance professionals from across the country. This year\, we are tackling some long-standing problems with a fresh perspective\, as well as new issues affecting insurance first and third-party conundrums. We’ll explore new ways to combat nuclear verdicts\, including how to present insurance companies and their decision-makers in the modern courtroom. We’ll look at insurance company and independent agents\, fraud investigations and reservations of rights. We’ll also discuss modern issues and tools to prevent and respond to cyber security risks\, first-party property appraisals and overlapping concerns with additional insureds and indemnity contracts. \nIt won’t be all work. ALFA International and our guests will take time to explore Charleston\, with options to include a historic homes tour\, a visit to Fort Sumter and even a little kayaking. SUMMARY:2021 Hospitality & Retail Practice Group Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The 2021 ALFA International Hospitality & Retail Seminar hosted its seminar on November 3-5\, 2021\, at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston\, South Carolina. \n“Come Together\, Right Now” An In-Person\, In-Depth Discussion of Emerging Legal Issues in the Hospitality and Retail Environments\n2021 H&R Program Brochure\nQuite simply\, the entire world was transformed due to the impact of COVID-19 and increasing social awareness. The legal environment was certainly no exception. While there is no need to dwell on the “old days\,” we can certainly learn from the past and improve our future. It’s time to start “feelin’ stronger every day” even though we’ve yet to reach the “end of the line.” Now is the time to learn from what we did well\, and what we didn’t do well\, in all facets of the law and business. Now is the time to embrace and harness the “change” that is taking place. Now is the time to share our collective experiences and thoughts on the future so we’ll be ready for the next set of legal challenges. “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.” \nThe seminar had lively\, engaging discussions on emerging legal and business topics. The panels discussed enterprise risk management to help avoid a “good run of bad luck”  and examined emerging damages issues involving claimants who contend they’ve become the “king of pain.” The panelists also explored implicit bias training so that “love will find a way”  and contemplated planning for tomorrow’s crisis before “it’s the end of the world as we know it.”  The bottom line: “ain’t no stoppin’ us now.” \nContact marketing@alfainternational.com if you are looking for a specific coursebook article from this ALFAI event.
