The recording for Part 2 of Plunkett Cooney’s webinar series “What to do When the IRS Comes Knocking” is now available on Plunkett Cooney’s website. Click HERE.
In this second installment, the presenters build on what was discussed in Part 1, which included a review of the IRS tax collections process and a discussion about the agency’s two most common collection alternatives for taxpayers – installment agreements and offers in compromise.
This session focused on additional collection alternatives for taxpayers with unique and complex situations. These include first-time penalty abatements, reasonable cause abatements, administrative waivers, statutory exemptions and even bankruptcy.
In addition, attendees learned about the IRS’ passport denial and revocation program, agency-imposed liens, innocent spouse relief and much more.
