Recent federal legislation promoting funding for over a trillion dollars of infrastructure improvements in the immediate future could be a game-changer. It is vital for attorneys and businesses in the construction\, design\, and supply-chain industries to understand how this legislation will likely affect them and how they can be involved and comply. Our panel will address these issues and more. \n\nPanelists:\nK. BRETT MARSTON is the head of the construction law practice group at Gentry Locke\, the ALFA International member firm in Roanoke\, Virginia\, and is a member of the firm’s management committee. He has extensive experience in contract negotiations and preparation\, payment disputes\, mechanic’s liens\, bond claims\, construction defects\, delay claims\, insurance and OSHA matters. In addition\, he handles significant construction matters in federal and state courts\, arbitration and mediation for general contractors\, subcontractors\, owners\, design professionals and suppliers. Brett is a graduate\, with honors\, from the George Mason University School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. Prior to starting with Gentry Locke in 1994\, Brett was a law clerk to the Honorable J. Calvit Clarke\, Jr.\, Sr. Judge of the United States District Court\, Eastern District of Virginia (Norfolk Division). \nMARK VAN DE VOORDE is the chief legal and administrative officer and corporate secretary of Victaulic Company\, Victaulic LLC and Victaulic International Sarl\, a global manufacturer of mechanical joining solutions. Mark earned his BBA and JD at the University of Iowa and his MBA at the University of Chicago. Mark has global responsibilities for all legal and administrative matters of Victaulic. Prior to joining Victaulic\, Mark worked in a similar position for Olympus Corporation and as an Investment Banker. \nJEREMY WARD is a partner with the Franden | Farris | Quillin | Goodnight | Roberts + Ward\, ALFA International’s member firm\, in Tulsa\, Oklahoma\, and is a member of ALFAI’s Construction Practice Group. He is special counsel for the Tulsa Metropolitan Utility Authority\, Tulsa Utility Board\, and Regional Metropolitan Utility Authority\, routinely handling all legal aspects of construction\, engineering\, regulatory\, and administrative matters for the City of Tulsa and other surrounding municipalities. He also defends professional negligence claims alleged against architects\, engineers\, contractors\, title companies and other various construction defect matters. Jeremy is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is an Oklahoma Super Lawyer in Construction. Jeremy is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Oklahoma\, Arkansas\, and Kansas and before the Northern and Western Districts of Oklahoma Bankruptcy Court\, 8th and 10th Circuit Courts of Appeal\, and the United States Supreme Court. \nCODY WEBB has been with Zachry Construction Corporation since October 2006 and currently serves as its general counsel. As general counsel\, he has represented the Company in the negotiation of contracts for its pursuit of large design-build projects such as the California High-Speed Rail project and reconstruction of the LaGuardia Airport Terminal B. Before joining Zachry\, Cody spent 10 years in private practice advising clients primarily in the areas of construction law\, independent power projects and corporate law. Cody graduated cum laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering\, and he graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law.
