W. David Paxton is a partner in the Roanoke, Virginia law firm of Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, LLP. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College and was named Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Paxton received his J.D. from the University of Virgnia School of Law. He served three years in Judge Advocate General’s Corps for the U.S. Navy as a trial and appellate lawyer serving in Guam and Washington, D.C., before joining his current firm. Mr. Paxton serves as the Chair of his firm’s Employment Law practice, and devotes a substantial portion of his practice to complex commercial litigation matters. He has been listed in “Best Lawyers in America” for more than fifteen consecutive years in the area of Employment Law - Individuals & Management (1999-2015), and was named a “Top Rated Lawyer” for Labor and Employment law and Commerical Litigation by American Lawyer Media (2013). Mr. Paxton also possesses an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and is a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation.
