GENERAL
The ALFA International Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group (the “Group”) was founded in 2002 and has grown to 40 lawyers from 20 member firms and continues to increase its membership, reflecting the growing importance of IP and technology issues. The Group is one of ALFA International’s most international of Practice Groups with members from the United States, Europe, and the Pacific Rim region.
FOCUS
Lawyers within the Group provide clients with legal support for trademark, copyright, patent, research and development, internet related issues, trade secrets and related technology issues. Member attorneys assist clients in all types of situations involving intellectual property such as: litigation, mediation, regulatory proceedings, licensing, financing/venture capital and general counseling. These attorneys represent clients before the U.S. and other International Patent and Trademark offices. Many of the practitioners work extensively and regularly with engineers, scientists, and researchers.
PUBLICATIONS
The group produced a Twenty-Five Country Primer of Intellectual Property Laws and Regulations in 2007. A copy of this primer can be obtained by contacting ALFA International headquarters. Many members are frequently published in bar journals and trade publications.
ACTIVITIES
The Group co-hosts a major seminar in conjunction with other ALFA International practice groups approximately every two years. Cutting edge tele-seminars are also presented on a yearly basis.
