Practice Group Detail CenterHealth Care

GENERAL

The ALFA International Health Care Practice Group (the “Group”) continues to gain momentum since its creation in 1998. With over 50 member firms now serving clients from coast to coast, the Group's broad-based legal services have likewise expanded to reflect the increasing interconnected range of client needs.

FOCUS

Health Care member firms and attorneys have devoted themselves to helping clients work through the constantly evolving legal, regulatory and market landscape of the nation's health care industry.  Working shoulder-to-shoulder with clients, the Group has forged a long-term record of success - a direct result of the attorneys' skills as litigators, their ability to negotiate and close complex mergers and transactions, and their insights into emerging regulatory developments in areas such as Medicare reimbursements, patient privacy, intellectual property, product liability, malpractice and anti-kickback enforcement.  Member attorneys also counsel clients on traditional and cutting-edge heath care-related matters, from long-term care, managed-care and pharmaceutical-research issues, to physician contracting, medical-staff relations and other tactical concerns.

The Group's member firms act as a strategic resource for clients from virtually every corner of the country, including key commercial and educational centers that form the geographic spine of the nation's health-care system.  Their clients include hospitals, health-care networks, HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, ambulatory-care centers, outpatient surgery centers, pharmaceutical companies, medical-device manufacturers and trade associations.

PUBLICATIONS

A comprehensive coursebook is provided to all attendees of the major seminars. In addition, the Group regularly publishes a 50-state compendium which summarizes state law on a wide variety of health care law issues. Our most recent 50-state compendium addresses, licensure, accreditation, certification and scope of practice regulatory issues concerning physician extenders. For a copy of any issue of the Health Care Compendium, please contact Dennis Wells at dwells@alfainternational.com or (312) 642-5244.

ACTIVITIES

ALFA International health care lawyers frequently speak before other health care organizations, and a speakers bureau is maintained to place ALFA International lawyers before audiences across the country. Group lawyers are active in many health care professional organizations.

The Group most recently hosted a national program in Las Vegas, January 26-28, 2011.  For more information regarding this seminar please click on the appropriate link below under Practice Group Events.
